Not just a cavalcade and camelcade, but the whole story of the adoration of the Magi will be re-enacted in an open-air production of the Three Kings Journey in Bratislava. It starts on the 6th of January 2020 at 2:30 at the Bratislava castle gate. Three Magi, accompanied by pipers and drummers, will journey down the Palisades to Michael’s gate through which they will enter the medieval town centre that symbolizes Jerusalem. Preceded by comet sparklers performed by children, the procession will reach the Main square transformed into Betlehem, where the Kings present Gifts. A concert performance adds the final touch.
Last year the visitors saw Štefan Bučko, Thomas Grey, and Benson Kioko staring as the Magi. In 2020, the Magi will be Ján Gallovič, Jaroslav Mendel, and Fissuh Hailu Kelelom from Ethiopia. The Grim Reaper searching for Herod will be played by Kristína Slováková.
Participation in this playful event is free for everybody. The organizers have requested that none of the political fractions use this cultural event as part of their campaigns. That might create division, while the Three Kings are meant to unite the polis.
